Female Farmer Friday: Kaley Thompson

Female Farmer Friday: Kaley Thompson

Hey guys! Its been a few months since we’ve done a Female Farmer Friday post, but I’m so excited to be back at it, and do I have an exciting few weeks for you! I had the opportunity to learn more about three special female farmers who also happen to be featured on a TV Show: The Cowboy Way on the INSP. Over the next few weeks it will be my pleasure to introduce you to Kaley, Jaclyn, and Misty. Starting off, please welcome Kaley Thompson as this weeks Female Farmer Friday!
Sara Beth

Please briefly introduce yourself.

Hey y’all! I am Kaley Thompson. I’m wife to Bubba Thompson and mama to two beautiful children, Andie Faith and Ripp Walker. Together we own Faith Cattle Company in the great state of Alabama. We also appear on the INSP original series, The Cowboy Way

What type of farm do you have?

We mostly run stocker cattle on our farm because that is what my husband enjoys the most. We also do a good bit of horse-trading.

How long have you been farming?

Personally, I have been in the farm industry for 7 years. I wasn’t involved until I met my husband.

Do you have an off-farm job?

I own an online women’s clothing boutique, The White Magnolia. It has allowed me to work from home, so I do not miss out on anything with my babies. It is the best of both worlds!

Please share with us one of the biggest struggles you have with farming.

The biggest struggle for me is Bubba’s long hours. It is not too bad when I can join him. However, since our children are still so young, I am at home without him a lot.

What is something about your farm life that you think would surprise most people?

I think most people would be surprised to know that I actually love working cattle and doing all the ranch things with Bubba. It is not showcased on the show much because as I mentioned above, our kids are young and mama duties come first.

Can you share one of your long-term goals for your farm?

My long-term goal would be to get the farm operating like a well-oiled machine on all levels, so when our children are old enough (and if they want to) they can take over operations with few hiccups.

If you had the chance to tell one thing to someone without any first-hand knowledge of the farming industry, what would it be?

I do not think people realize how much farming contributes to the stability of America. The farming industry alone gives the U.S. economy over 100 BILLION dollars annually. There is so much more to it too, but that is just a small fact that most people probably do not know.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about agriculture?

I love technology. One thing I have found while talking to people outside the industry is that most think farming is low-tech and only consists of old-school tractors and manual labor. They are always pleasantly surprised when I start telling them just how far tech has come in our industry.

What is something you are deeply passionate about?

My passions are 100% faith & family.

What is one thing on Instagram you think everyone should check out?

It is actually a hashtag, but I enjoy #agricultureworldwide on Instagram. It is super neat to see how different states and countries operate their farms.

If people want to follow your farm journey, where can they find you?

You can find me doing all things farm, family and food on Instagram at @_kaleythompson. See you there!

More information on The Cowboy Way:
The Cowboy Way sets the stage for real-life cowboy adventures. This one-hour series follows three modern-day cowboys – Bubba, Cody, and Booger – as they build their business in south Alabama herding cattle, breaking horses and tilling fields. The Old West meets the Deep South with these buddies who live by a cowboy code that is as important to them today as it was to those who first tamed the Old West. They work hard, play hard and depend on each other. They love their families and the rugged life they’ve chosen. Their days may not be easy, but these three friends wouldn’t have it any other way. Previous seasons are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, Roku and Tubi, and a 7th season has already been confirmed.

  1. Misty and Jaclyn!! You absolutely amaze me as mothers and business owners. You don’t act spoiled and although your husbands put some very long hours in, very rarely do I ever hear you complain!! Y’all are not greedy and always want to give back to your community! I have always wanted to lifestyle you were blessed with, but sadly my husband who was from TX passed away unexpectedly at age 35 in 2018 and I shortly after was diagnosed with a barrage of health issues that make it unable for me to have the farming lifestyle. I try to do what I can personally and within my community. It really sucks being alone and not to have friends that live close to me at all. Please cherish what y’all have. It would be a blessing to meet you one day! I wish you all the best in life. God Bless to you and your families.🙏

  2. I’ve been watching y’all’s show (a cowboy way) and I just seen the episode of boogers son calling himself Mr shorty. His mom said that he told her it was an old man that was a farmer and I just thought maybe he is seeing boogers grandfather because kids can see things we can’t. Anyways I thought I’d point this out because its pretty neat and would mean that boogers grandfather really is watching over him. I love you guys show. Y’all are awesome people. It would be a better world with a lot more people like you guys in it.
